We leave in September for our first leg: three months of playing and filming in Trinidad & Tobago, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, & Peru. We’ll have a rough cut for you to see in March, provided we don’t get robbed and shot for our equipment, arrested for filming in areas we’re not allowed, or devoured by piranhas in the Amazon. (But if that last one has to happen to one of us, we hope it’s Rebekah.)
In the meantime, we’ll be honing our foot skills in Asheville parking lots, using youtube to track down South American tricksters, trying our best not to break ridiculously expensive equipment, and of course, raising more money.
Yuke & Gwenni! You two are both nuts, but that’s what it takes to do something like this! I’m not going to lie…I’m extremely jealous of your upcoming travels! All joking aside, please be safe and I hope you enjoy every moment of your journey! Best of luck, Kristi M.
This is one of those moments where I say, “Holy cow…I forgot how many smart people went to Duke with me!” Way to step out on a limb and go for it! I will say a prayer for your safety. Please keep us posted. May God protect each of you on this journey.
Wow! what an exciting project. There must be something in the water that the White family drinks. There is never a dull moment. I look forward to hearing about your adventures in the coming months via your Mom. God be with you and your crew.
I truly wish I were single without kids…otherwise, I would jump on this adventure with you all!!! I am a Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro living in Cerritos, CA for the last 13 years. I just came back from Rio with a group of Southern California boys who learned how to appreciate their soccer balls and families a little better after this unique and unforgettable trip. Anyhow, all I can offer you are numbers and address of closed friends and families throughout Brazil, some South American countries, Guatemala, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Tunisia, Dubai, India, Japan who they could easily host you 4 giving you food and a place to sleep. Let me know where in Brazil you want to pass by, and I will have somebody there waiting for you. Have fun above all and keep the cameras rolling!!! I sent you an email to attack Plan B while in Rio. Call Rogaciano and Fernando to see where they can help and forget the rest for now…bunch of flakes!!! From Ipanema to Leme, you will see a lot of beach soccer and footvolley activities happening in there. The bus S20 - Largo da Carioca/Recreio is the bus to catch! For only a US$1.00, it goes through all most famous beaches in Rio from Aterro do Flamengo to the end of Recreio dos Bandeirantes!!! You will see great views including Sugar Loaf, Christ of the Redeemer, Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Niemeyer Road passing at Vidigal ending by Rocinha, San Conrado, Barra and then Recreio. At the beach you choose and see some soccer or footvolley activities, if the kids look ’spoiled’, they are from the apartments next door. If the kids look ‘poor’, the PE teacher has contacts within the slum or the poor area they live in. I also sent you a photo of you eating and drinking Guarana at my parents’ house!!! Lucky you!!! I wish I could be with you in Rio…you would have no problems at all! However, spoiling you in Rio, you would probably cry going through the other cities you have nobody to spoil you guys!!! Hang in there! Lui
